Female Fertility Tubal Factor Uterine Factor Ovarian Factor

Female infertility can be categorised into three factors: tubal, uterine and ovarian.

Tubal factors which affect the fallopian tubes
Uterine factors which affect the lining of the uterus
Ovarian factors have to do with the ovaries and the eggs they produce

All three are linked, and if you have a problem with one or more it could make you infertile.

Let’s start with the ovaries. If you have a problem with them, you may not be able to produce eggs which is one of two things (the other is the sperm) needed to make a baby.

Say your ovaries are fine, but your tubes are not. This can stop the sperm from reaching the egg and also the tubes may not be able to pick up the eggs from the ovaries.

So your eggs are fine and your tubes are in top shape and you get a fertilised egg which should turn into an embryo. But you have a problem with your uterine lining. You may not be able to carry a baby full term.

All these factors contribute to the reasons why some of our women are infertile. And each individual case is different.
